Home is where Nipika is

For the past few years I’ve been perusing all the amazing camps out west with a bit of jelousy and curiousity. I’ve watched all these cool people do amazing events and I’ve been dreaming of attending one of these myself once I moved here. I’m happy to report that I attended my first mountain bike camp and it was so freaking amazing!

Nipika is a place that is full of heart, love and relaxation. Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, Nipika is is within the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa and Secwepemc people. This beautiful area offers xc skiing, fat biking, trail running, mountain biking, hiking and disk golf! You can come for the day or rent cabins and enjoy the beautiful scenery with a good cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

About the camp:

  • It starts Friday aat 4pm with a group ride, then followed by a bike maintenace clinic and dinner.

  • Saturday breakfast then skills camp followed by lunch and a group ride.

  • Saturday evening dinner then a beautiful bonfire to relax and tell stories!

  • Sunday morning you can chose from various activities (clinic, group rides or disc golf)

I registered alone and was placed with a few other folks in one of the cabins. I really appreciate this model as it’s great for people that are looking for a more affordable way of spending a weekend away and sharing the costs. The food was absolutely fantastic, and the organization througout the weekend was professional and fun!

I can’t say enough great things about Lyle, Steven and the team. I would highly recommend this camp for anyone that is trying to improve their MTB skills.
