I decided to take the long route to have a pint at La Ferme – Brasserie Rurale

Social media has it’s ying and yang. On one hand I find myself wanting to shut down all my accounts, and then on the other hand I find myself surfing through some of the FB groups that show me some great places to visit on my solo adventures. Thanks to the Gravel Bike Quebec group, it inspired me on today’s ride.

I saw a photo of someone visiting this brasserie, and I immediately searched google to find out how far it was from my house. From there, I navigated RideWithGPS and created a custom route based on some other rides that were promoted.

This ride has EVERYTHING. Hills, flat paths, pavement, bike paths, single track, peace and quiet, and madness through Yamaska park. I feel this type of route encompasses all the areas of riding that someone exploring would like to look out for.

You will have a variety of places to grab snacks and hydration; Waterloo, Warden and Yamaska park would be the main pit stops. Along the way there are many residential areas where I’m sure there would be a kind person happy to help.

Yamaska park is a small beautiful treasure. The trails are a mix of pavement, gravel and they will switch from a double track to just a bit bigger than a single track. Mind your speed as there’s lots of people but I would highly recommend you go around the lake. Beautiful stops along the way and it will give you an idea of your next camping destination.

The purpose of this destination was to head to La Ferme and have a beer and a snack before finishing the last 15km or so back home. This place DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The staff are very friendly and are very excited to see cyclists come in. I’d recommend that when you arrive, take a photo of the food menu as you wait in line for a drink. They have non-alcoholic beverages as well, and a place to fill up your water bottle. The atmosphere, beer and food are simply perfect.

Once you head your way back to Bromont you will have a bit of climb to get out of the farm, but it’s almost all downhill back into town.

If you’re new to gravel riding this is a great mix and if you’re an experienced rider I think you’ll find some of the hills a nice challenge. Why not give this route a try and let me know how it goes!

Happy riding!
